Despite the dragon boats competition and eggs standing challanging the Guiness World Record, the other "Tuan Wu Chie" --"Chang Festival" or "Dragon Boat Festival" celebration of the Hsinchu government was the outdoor Hockian Drama show called " The Ultra Dazzles White Snake".
It is a traditional story play on this typical festival because it talks about the head of the monsters, a thousand years white snake who transformed to " The White Lady". She has a friend called Greenie who is a green snake. The White Lady comes to return fortune to his saver Mr. Hsiu Shien who saved her during her last life. She got married and pregnant. Their marriage did not stay long because a monk called Fa Hai, who is the god who monitor the white snake has come to teach Mr. Hsiu to ask The White lady to drink the herbs wine, which usually drink on the Tuan Wu Chie in order to get rid of the monsters, insects or bad lucks. When The White Lady drank the herbs wine, she tremendously suffered and turned into white snake again, eventually, caused his husband died after seeing her real figure.
During her pregnancy, the White Lady fights to get the Linche mushroon to save her husband. Mr. Hsiu was saved but he was caught by Fa Hai at his temple called Ching San She (Golden Mountain Temple). Without better solution, the White Lady uses her extremely power magic to flood the Ching San She and caused the anger of the dragon king in the sea. At the mean time, luckily she borns to a boy infant and not a monster. At last, she was killed and buried at the Lei Fung Pagoda. Just like all the mothers of the children, The White Lady is the guardian of all the kids!
Despite the exciting fighting views, tonight's presentation was difference from the tranditional play, they heavily used the ultra dazzles electronic lighting, East and West musical instruments sounds effects, actual water showering by the fire team members, moreover, the acters and actresses were hung by the steel wires as they were flying in the sky.
The children enjoyed splashing by the water as if they were at the scence near the Ching San She. Furthermore, they have great fun eating at the long food stalls. It was said that there were about 50 thousands people waiting to watch the show 3 hours before the show starts at 7pm. It was estimated totally 70 thousands people watching the show.

新竹市今年為慶祝升格省轄市三十週年，擴大辦理「超炫國際端午節」，壓軸好戲明華園《超炫白蛇傳》，24日晚間7時在市長許明財及議長謝文進兩人共同主持敲鑼下正式開演，「水漫金山寺」跨越台上台下與空中3D立體演出，舞台特效、聲光場景炫麗動人，民眾驚呼連連，盛況空前未有。
市長許明財表示，新竹市慶祝升格省轄市30週年，今年端午節規劃一系列精采活動，特別邀請享譽國際的明華園戲劇團於關埔重劃區演出應景大戲《超炫白蛇傳》，感謝市議會及所有贊助廠商的支持與協助，耳孰能詳的戲碼，及有如科幻電影般精彩的表演藝術視聽，讓傳統戲曲藝術貼近民眾一飽眼福。
文化局長林榮洲表示，明華園勇於突破傳統，大膽創新，《超炫白蛇傳》將傳統戲劇元素融合變臉、爵士鼓、打擊樂、現代舞、武術等跨界藝術，並開啟多項舞台特效先例，出動大型吊車高空吊鋼索，讓演員騰空飛舞在觀眾席上方，打造出舞台、空中、觀眾三點一線的3D立體視覺效果。
下午3時開始，關帝廟「包您高中」考生祈福活動，在關埔重劃區活動現場發放3,000份關聖帝君及文昌帝君加持過的「文昌粽」，許多考生、家長爭相索取，祈求好運榮登金榜。
4時民眾陸續湧入《超炫白蛇傳》會場，五萬個座椅座無虛席；晚間7時，媲美百老匯東方音樂劇的《超炫白蛇傳》炫麗開場，明華園無敵小生孫翠鳳飾演白素貞(白蛇)，當家花旦鄭雅升飾演小青(青蛇)，外台歌仔戲南天王陳昭香飾許仙，明華園新生代菁英陳子豪飾飾演法海，7座500吋大螢幕同步轉播，「水漫金山」一幕突破傳統戲劇格局，讓數萬名觀眾瞬間化身滄瀾海水，不知不覺間成為劇中的演員。
《超炫白蛇傳》取材於民間傳說，明華園全新改編，故事描述白蛇為修練千年的群妖之首，私自下凡報許仙前世救命之恩；在天界看守白蛇的法海，為此怒氣沖沖到人間捉拿白蛇。
藝術手法上，一般傳統戲劇演出白蛇傳，多著重在刀馬旦與武功的表演，以及白蛇與許仙最後夫妻團圓的情節。
明華園的白蛇傳，則刻畫白素貞的真心感動上天，讓她生下是“人”的小孩，為了搭救丈夫許仙，不得不與法海鬥法，水漫金山，她一手抱著初生嬰兒，充滿為人母對生命的讚嘆與喜悅，一手卻必須拿起屠刀殺出重圍，讓生命染血；劇尾，許仙牽著稚子上場，一番對話傳達出「白娘娘就像天下的母親呵護著天下的小孩」。
