會噴水的高級海參和棕橘色的馬糞海膽--- 小琉球

TW - 12th, June, 2013 (Fri, Sunny with Rain, expected Typhoon is heading tonight) Hsinchu: H2O SPA

The kids are having two weeks swimming course at the H2O SPA center. Today is the last day of their course. It was crowded with pupils especially during the hot summer holiday.

 Typhoon Suli is approaching, the center will close early at 6pm this evening to avoid the heavy storm and rain. Now, the weather is mostly sunny with some shower rain.

Some workers come to the center because the government announced not to school or work this afternoon after 2pm.

We will come again to spend our summer here.

小琉球地標---花瓶岩淨灘!

花瓶岩附近水域是小琉球最靠近碼頭、遊客浮潛、戲水、看台灣本島、看海、看日出等最富盛名的好場所，故遊客很多!

淨灘時，檢拾到很多大大小小的酒瓶玻璃碎片，有黑的、綠的、白的等散佈在花瓶岩附近的水中、沙灘上，直接危害到穿著輕便涼拖或光腳的居民與遊客的安全。沙灘上還有許多用保麗龍、紙做的飲料瓶和塑膠袋等! 導遊說花瓶岩附近海岸是綠蠵龜覓食的主要場所之一。綠蠵龜被發現死時肚中有很多塑膠袋，因牠們會把水中的塑膠袋當成水母來吃。

喜愛小琉球的人呀：「請帶走您們帶來的飲料和垃圾，並勿再丟棄玻璃瓶了吧!」感恩!


  Beach cleaning at Vase Rock , the landmark of Little Okinawa!

Why I have the idea of beach cleaning at Vase Rock?

After we arrived yesterday, our friend bought us to this site which is the landmark of the Little Okinawa. The kids are fairly happy to play in the water near the beach, but we found the beach were scatter with broken alcoholic glasses on the beach and in the water. Most of the people playing on the beach just wearing slipper or simply bare their feet which threaten by the scatter glasses.  What a terrible experience! So I decided to spend some time on the beach cleaning.

Despite the black, green, white broken glasses, I also collected many PE or paper drink cups and bags that hold the cups. The tourist guard told us that the turtles were found dead with lot of plastic bags in their stomach because the turtle swallow the bags as they tought that they were the jelly fishes they like to eat.

People who like the island, pls bring along your drink containers and wastes back to the shore and don't throw any glasses to the beach. Let's keep the beautiful island clean and safe! Appreciated!

TW- 6th, July, 2013 (Sat, Sunny, 32-35C) PingTung District 屏東縣 : Small Okinawa 小琉球

We visit the small Okinawa that located south of Taiwan in Pingtung District today.

Yesterday evening, we drove 4 hours heading south from Hsinchu to TungGang 東港鎭, then stayed over night there.

This morning, the boat took us 15mins from TungGang harbor to the coral island -- Small Okinama.

It is a beautiful island with beautiful beaches, flower stone, very fresh sea food, and yummy mangos that made into pure Mango Shake 芒果冰沙!

On the island, most of the people travel by motorcycle as there are hills all over the island. If you like to visit some interesting sight of views, it will be very hard if you walk or travel by bike. Moreover, it is not suitable for the car too, as some of the lanes are too small for the car, though there are some travel buses service on the island.

Tomorrow at 2pm, we will visit the farest low tide area 最遠的潮間帶during this period of time to see the creatures under the sea. We will spend 2 nights and 3 days on the island. The kids love driving and swimming near the beaches.
